I cannot see the weight going that high, given that a twin installation weighs, say 320 lbs FWF. So, subtract the following:

1 rotor 10 lbs
1 rotor hsg 20
1 ctr hsg 25
1/2 eshaft est 5
1/2 coolant est 5
1/2 tension bolts est 5
Total 70 lbs
This gives 320 - 70 = 250 lbs

I plan on using the lightweight Racemate alternator, with just one shorter belt, this saves about 7 lbs.

Or if you like, the bare rx8 weighs 200 lbs, then a bare single should weigh 130 lbs. This agrees with Frank St Germain's helicopter engine weight of 135 lbs based on 1/2 a 13b Series 4 engine.

Any thoughts on these numbers? Dave McC (ever the optimist, and hoping George comes up with the Al end hsg)

Rusty,
By my figuring the one rotor with PSRU will be about 280 to 300 lbs, may be a little less if your really stingy - I don't know if I'd be too stingy with the oil though.

Hi George,
Are you making a lighter drive for your single rotor?  How much do you figure it will weight?

Cheers,
Rusty
