Thanks mate - yep that's my plan as well, try the oil bath (splash feed) and
then look at pressure feed.
I didn't think the Oil metering pump would give sufficient oil, unless Don
is looking at dribble feed.
I spoke to Don a few days ago and the gap between out very different plans
has narrowed considerably. As Butch says all roads lead to Rome. It makes me
feel more confident with our approach now that I see others taking the same
path.
They say great minds think alike, but I believe that's a simplification of
the fact that there are sometimes very limited best solutions. The word
'best' being relative to this particular application and cost effectiveness.

Hi George, Don Dunbar was looking at using the metering pump for
gearbox lube. but for now he is just trying the idea of a finned mini
oil bath. Apparently a lot of the marine applications run uncooled gear
oil in big gearboxes, with no problems. FWIW, Dave McC
