Once the top is reached, a couple of 'holders' are added to lock the heater core down. These have so thick weatherstripping on the back to protect the core. Then the side fairings are added. And finally plates that have one side trimmed off are used so that the hoses can be fitted on.
It's gone now, but there were actually ducts cut into the gear box that were tapped so they could accept water lines. They were going to use the gearbox to distribute coolant around to the various radiators.
