Don't attribute to malice that which can best be explained by ignorance/stupidity/laziness...

Autoconversions are still rare (notice how much attention they get at any flyin) and I think rotary installations are still a very small minority of those.  That is slowly changing, but I wouldn't expect to see the EAA get any more involved until you start to seeing rotary products avertised on the pages of Sport Aviation.
