I think the new Honda Odessy uses this technique to take selected sounds out of the cabin environment. Mark's comment is valid if implemented that way.
 
HOWEVER, there have been proponents of active noise reduction that looked at putting the speakers near the exhaust to cancel the noise at that point. The problems faced are as Ed mentioned somewhere -- high temperature speaker components and a *mongo* audio driver.

Dave,

Yeah, I can see it now.  While you are enjoying a blissful, quiet flight, the people and small animals nearby are bleeding from the ears.  That would be really bad for the rotary movement.
