It appears that rotary engines are not the only auto = conversion=20 with problems with SAG from having lead foul the plugs.

Some white deposits may be seen on the plugs and in the exhaust pipe = during=20 use, this is normal with TCP since the lead in the fuel is being = converted to=20 non conductive lead phosphate. When no additive is used, lead = oxide is=20 formed. It is lead oxide which causes plugs to misfire due to its = partial=20 conductivity shorting out the plug. In addition, lead oxide tends = to form=20 in large clumps or clinkers whereas the lead phosphate is a crumbly and = if any=20 is left behind in the combustion chamber it deposits in even = layers.
