I'm thinking this would
not be a good plan. For the piston engines you referred to, I bet they
have a way to control the valves with solenoids so the deactivated pistons
aren't producing compression. With the rotary, I don't see any easy
way to avoid the compression, which means you'd be doing all the work of
compressing air for nothing. I think that would defeat the fuel
savings goal. It also might be amazingly rough, but perhaps
not quite as bad as a two rotor running on
one.
Good thought
though. New ideas are always interesting, and perhaps there is a way
to make it work. You could have that loping Harley sound too
:-)
