How often do you rebuild your race engines?  Soft rebuild?  New engine?
I assumed rebuild of some sort between seasons ... Jim S.

The rebuild is once per season. New side seals set at zero end clearance is just about it for parts. New "O" ring set. Oil control scrapers and "O" rings are reused for years. I run over the irons with a DA (orbital sander with 80 grit paper) to take off any corrosion and add some tooth for oil retention. No attempt is made to reduce the step.

I look at everything and clean everything well and reassemble. I fill two K&N 3001 spin on filters and install them in the car.

The last failure of any kind was the flat spring that keeps the goofy looking distributor rotor stiff on the shaft broke and the rotor touched the contacts inside the cap. It all turned to dust and shut off the engine. The rotor housings on both engines look like new after 5 years. The side seals wear
more from the additional movement caused by the trailing end being unsupported when passing over the Bridgeport. The leading end tracks on the bridge. here is on of the front irons with the TDC rig in place. Note the finish on the iron.
