After spending two weeks trying to get hoses to fit into the available
space, I finally got the Meziere 337 installed, and amazingly, with no
leaks. I did manage to ruin the threads on my fill tank. I used
Permetex to seal the threads, but it didn't seem to work too well. I
wanted to replace it with teflon tape, but when I removed the fitting
from the Moroso fill tank, the threads in the fitting were apparently
fused to the threads in the tank. The AN12 to pipe fitting is ruined,
but I think I can re-thread the tank.
I found a company that has a good selection of AN fittings. In
particular they had an AN16 Female-Female straight union which I
couldn't find elsewhere. Using two of these with a 'T' allowed me to
connect my radiators togethere in a minimum of space. BAT, Inc. in
Sarasoto, FL. Their web site is at http://www.batinc.net/mocal.htm.
They don't have online ordering, but the phone salesman was quite
helpfull. They have a lot of neat stuff including an AN16 one-way
flapper valve that's a lot nicer looking than the ones I bought.
With the pump running at 14 V, I get a current draw of 10.5 - 11 amps
which is very close to what it was in the test I did earlier. This
would indicate the flow is pretty close to 14 GPM as restricting the
flow would lower the current draw. Next trip to the airport, I will
install the flow meter to verify.
At the rate I'm going, it looks like Ed will have his engine re-built,
installed and flying before I get mine started. Bob W. (Moving slowly and unsurely)
