My noise was a lot to do with my headset:>)  The skinny plastic on the earmuffs had deterioated over the years and had no passive attenuation. Am flying with a neighbors and traded my old ones in on the latest Lightspeed 30XL3G.

Hi Bernie,

Have you flown with the new Lightspeeds yet?  I have those same headsets, and had times were the noise overwhelmed them, causing a crackling, popping sound.  They made a couple trips back to LS, and finally ended up with the old, thicker ear seals from the previous version of their headset.  That, combined with extending my exhaust pipe to the rear a couple feet, finally got me a clean headset sound.

My compression isabout 70 psi during cranking, YUK!  I use premix 2 stroke penzoil of 1 oz per gallon.

Is the compression dead even, or are there variations?  I'm assuming this was one of Bruce's engines.  New parts? Used parts?  Just curious.

I never checked the previous version of my engine, but the current version tested 90 psi cold, with only about 5 minutes of running time on it.  As it gets broken in, I presume that will improve, and I think it would be better warm as well.

Good luck,
Rusty
