Tracy,
I received my Apex seals, please pass my thanks to
Laura.
Checking for slot depth for the RX8 rotors, what depth did
you design your apex seals for?
BTW did you realise the RX8 front pulley bolt is 1/2"
longer than the RX7 bolt - I noticed you mention on your site some concern in
this area.
As the e-shaft is the same length, those chaps wanting to
use the Rx8 timing plate ( attached to Pulley) may need to purchase an RX8
pulley bolt, to take-up that extra length.

My observations are in line with Rusty's comments. On the website
you will see that I recommend the LCD for bubble canopy planes like RV-3,4,8,
etc. and VFD for planes with a roof. I started with the VFD in my
RV-4 and loved it 99% of the time. But when the sun was low and at my 6,
I had to shade the display to see it clearly. I liked the VFD look
and will use it in my -8 but will have the popular sun shade installed in
canopy to make it visible 100% of the time.

and EM2 users...
Those of you with EM's in your panel, please share your
opinions on placement (pictures if you have em..) as well as switch
placement. Also share the reason for your choice of VFD versus LCD and
your experience with that choice.
Hi
Dave,
I have the large VFD
in my RV-3, and figured bigger was better when I got it. I'm less than
thrilled with the direct sunlight readability of the display though.
When I ordered the second EM-2 for my Kolb, I opted for the LCD
screen. From speaking with Tracy, it sounds like the LCD is more
readable in direct sunlight, but perhaps not as nice as the VFD at other
times. I plan to take a look at the LCD display in comparison to the
VFD, and decide which I like better, but this won't happen for at least a
few weeks. If the LCD is that much more readable, I'll probably trade
in my large VFD display for an LCD.
It looks like the
Velocity has a roof of sorts, so direct sunlight might not be an issue
with you. If not, then I'd go with the large VFD.
Cheers,
Rusty (still leaking
a bit, but temps up to 162 Oil, and 182 coolant)
