I don't want to set a precedent that says anytime anyone uses that phrase I'm going to have to stop whatever I'm doing and go clean up the archive... that's just not going to happen. (This was covered just a short time ago, remember?) On this current deal the messages will be scattered across an easily identifiable period of time, and all I need to do is check the subjects and message sizes and flag the offenders for deletion... I'll get most of the batch in one fell swoop, then I don't have to think about it anymore. I don't really mind too much when these things come up, as there's such a wealth of knowledgable people here, the suggestions often reach beyond the current issue and we all get to learn something new. All I know for sure is you can't run one of these lists expecting every post to maintain some precise level of perfection or expect the subjects to be topical 100% of the time. I've been running online forums since the early 80's and if I had a nickel for every time someone stepped outside the lines I'd have me a sizable pile of nickels. Thanks for the suggestion, though, your consideration is appreciated. "Bob Perkinson" : Marv, Some times chatter is good, but it does take up space and has nothing to do with the subject material. Would it be of any help to you if those of us that just want to make an off handed remark, preface the subject line with DO NOT ARCHIVE. That might make it easer to remove the non pertinent post. Just an idea FWIW Bob Perkinson Hendersonville, TN.
