I agree, but OTOH less flow makes everything else more critical and a
higher temp drop across the radiator is needed. Todd is probably doing
a little better than 9 GPM as that was measured at 12 V. He also got
7.7 GPM with a couple of GM evap cores which is still better than I'm
doing with one pump.
An interesting comment from PL yesterday: "BTW Jim Mederer said he was dumb founded that the more or less stock
water jacket on the Mazda rotary was still capable of cooling the rotor
housings at the 300 HP per rotor level let alone 400 HP per rotor
level. He felt it should melt the rotor housing. I had to agree. I must
say I am impressed on what a great job Mazda engineers did designing
the cooling system."
I might also conclude that the pump is over designed for 100 HP per
rotor. :)

run the pumps in series, you can probably use the second one only for climb
and maybe really hot days in cruise. Keep in mind that no one has proven any flow rate that's required for our
engines. There are lots of charts, and numbers floating around, but none of
it really means much to me, because there are too many variables. Ernest
said that I hadn't proven mine in flight, and he's right. That's what
counts, and we would all do well to remember that. Nevertheless, I can't
help but want to test the flow rates of the two pumps, though any flow rates
that I get will not prove that either will work, but it will show which pump
flows the most water in a similar test. Cheers,
