Wendell,
I guess I will chime in here. I have instrumented my 20B very similar to how Al has done. I have two oil temp sensors, one on the outlet at the front cover (oil out), the other at the oil filter adapter (oil in). That way I can see how well my oil cooler is working. One big difference with my sensors is that I used a neat little AN-to-AN adapter from Livermore Racing which includes a 1/8 NPT port that allows me to easily move the sensor from one location to another. So, if the oil is cooling fine, but the H2O is too high, I can move the sensor from the front cover and install it on the water pump inlet (return from the purge tank). That will give me the capability to see the delta-t on the engine coolant before and after the water passes through the radiator. Finally, like Al, I have an OAT sensor. How can I do all this you ask? I have an EM-2 as well as a BMA EFIS which allows for lots of options. You could use the four CHT channels with thermocouples if you only have an EM-2. I had the extra (unused) channels, so I put them to good use. Mark S. Subject: [FlyRotary] Re: Oil and WaterTemps
Where are you guys measuring the oil temp? I believe some are putting temp
sensor on a fitting at the oil filter. Is this correct? Does everyone sense
the water temp at the water pump housing?
