Al,
This sounds good, I don't have the EM2 but want to rig a switchable meter for manually monitoring in's and out'ts (deltas).
Wendell

If you are only measuring one point for each; probably best to measure coolant out of the engine (water pump housing), and oil temp going in.

If you have additional temp measuring channels; as with the EM2, then some additional data can be useful in diagnosing cooling systems behavior.  I measure oil temp out of the engine at the filter mount (which I have on the outlet side from the engine), and at the adapter block going back in.  Gives me the delta T of the oil cooler.  I also measure temp on the outlet leg of each of two radiators, in addition to the engine out at the water pump.  Gives me the delta T for each rad.

I also have outside air temp, and exit air temps on the oil cooler and each rad.  So I have complete heat balances on the cooling system.  If everything is working just fine; it’s just extra data.  If not, that data will help me diagnose how to fix a problem.

FWIW,

Al (changing to posting at the top; but I’ll never give up the freedom to use HTMLJ)

Where are you guys measuring the oil temp? I believe some are putting temp sensor on a fitting at the oil filter. Is this correct? Does everyone sense the water temp at the water pump housing?
