This is courtesy of an overzealous organic chemistry professor from 1987.  I may have forgotten a thing or two since then.

Great explanation Ernest!  I hated chemistry like you can't imagine, but this was an enjoyable, and understandable. 
 
As for the cold side injection, I ran my engine that way for a number of hours.  The intake was just like Paul Conner's original intake, with the runners that wrapped all the way over to a throttle body on the cold side of the engine.  There were 4 injectors in the throttle body.   The primary problem with this was throttle response, which was horrid.  I suspected that it was having mixture issues as well, but could never prove that.  The current system was shortened, so the throttle body is directly on top of the engine.  The injectors are in the stock intermediate housing location, and two secondary injectors are in the secondary runners, just a few inches from the side housing ports.  This is not  a Pport of course.
