Yea Rusty,

That damage looks like it either happened before the engine was assembled (maybe in shipping,  but the cardboard cocntainers are pretty robust),  or the motor might have "swallowed".  The rotor material is pretty soft,  so it bruises easily.  Irrespective,  the marks aren't anything to worry about at all.  You ought to see what happens if they swallow a split washer,  or a 12mm nut!!  Yee Hah!

Hoo Roo,

Subject: [FlyRotary] front rotor damage

Greetings,

I'm just starting to clean up the reusable parts, and found some damage on the front (good) rotor.  Attached are some pics that show the damage.  Try as I might, I can't see any signs of damage to the rotor housing, which is hard to believe.  I'd sure think the force required to dent in a steel rotor, would at least make a mark on an aluminum housing.   These were new rotors that Bruce ordered, and installed when he reworked my engine originally.  Has anyone ever seen a new rotor show up with damage like this attributed to shipping?

I ordered two new rotors for the RV-3 rebuild, and this one will go in the single rotor engine eventually.

Cheers,
Rusty
