Greetings,
Well, the next version of
the oil scoop is done. My Best estimate has the original scoop at 25 sq
inches, and the new scoop is 37 sq inches. Once I find out how it works, I
may do anything from scrapping the whole thing, to leaving it alone. In
whatever the final version becomes, I'll probably try to round the front edge to
more of an airfoil shape, since that's supposed to help. For now, it will
fly like it is.
I'll install it today, but
it's unlikely I'll be able to do any meaningful testing. I'm leaving in a
few minutes with a U-Haul to bring my Slingshot home, and it's also fairly
low overcast, and will probably remain that way all day.
Unfortunately, tomorrow won't be any better.
A cooling drag question-
Say I end up with more cooling than I need for both oil and water. My
options would be to reduce the cowl exit, or reduce all the inlets. Would
there be a significant difference in cooling drag for the two approaches?
Cheers,
Rusty (off to finally
retrieve the damaged SS)
