The 0-290 is useable for the BD but limits the plane to a 2 place at about 150mph top speed. With an engine that will produce 200hp or higher (possible on the rotary with good porting and intake/exhaust design) the BD is a four place capable of 180-200 mph. There is a very good web site for the BD-4 http://www.bd-4.org/ Bob White is installing a rotary on a flying BD. He has a web site http://www.bob-white.com There are several other builders that are still working on the structure of thier BD's that are planning to use the rotary engine also. I have purchased an engine from a '91 N/A RX-7. I stripped the engine down to a short block and it looks as though the rotor housing closest to the front cover is badly grooved (the oil injector line to this housing was melted off). Also the rear (flywheel end) end housing has part broken off (the thin portion on the plug side). Does anyone have a good rotor housing and end housing cheap?
