I use alligators. I noticed with practice and using a moderate pour rate, that one alligator gets me about 1 oz. So I carry the oil in quart oil bottles and count one alligator per gallon of fuel. I have found that if I cheat just a little (we all know how to count our alligators a little fast - or you'll never catch that quarterback) then the oil doesn't accumulate as fast. So I am probably using a little less than 1 oz/gal. - 80 hrs and still running. Dave Leonard Rusty, since my tanks are 18 gallons and I use 1 oz to gallon of fuel in the tank, I carry my 2 cycle oil in plastic 18 oz jars. Empty tank unscrew top place full tube in tank, squirt in fuel to stir and mix. 1/2 tank then 1/2 jar etc. wipe off top of jar and replace. Greetings, Now that I can consider leaving my home fuel pump, I need to stock the plane with tools, tie-downs, and some oil. How do you guys manage this oil situation without having it become a disgusting mess? In the hanger, I have a plastic measuring cup, that I use to dispense 5 oz in each 5 gallon jug. When I'm done, I end up with an oily cup, that I have to wipe out, which gets oil on my hands. In the hanger, it's easy to pump a shot of citrus cleaner, and walk over to the faucet, but that's not going to be so easy at a fuel pump at a remote airport. Most quart size containers of oil have a measuring scale on them, but these aren't the most accurate. Fortunately, accuracy isn't all that important, so I imagine this is probably the best option. These type containers would seal better than any sort of aftermarket container I can think of. Has anyone found a good, sealable measuring device, capable of at least 15 oz, or do you just use the scale that's on the side of the bottle, and figure that it isn't all that critical? Speaking of oil, is anyone using significantly less than 1 oz per gallon with good results? Cheers, Rusty (waiting for MRI parts to arrive) ------=_NextPart_000_003A_01C4CF02.E1EA00F0 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Message
