I was certain that I didn't have any air leak, but after searching around the engine, I found source of the air. It doesn't take very much air to make it run high RPM's. My leak was a bolt hole in the lower portion of the original intake manifold that I used when fabricating the new intake. The bolt hole went all the way into the intake inlet, which was letting in the air. Now it will idle down to well below 1000 RPMs. Steve Brooks Cozy MKIV -----Original Message----- From: Rotary motors in aircraft [mailto:flyrotary@lancaironline.net]On Behalf Of Tommy James Sent: Thursday, November 18, 2004 9:02 PM To: Rotary motors in aircraft Subject: [FlyRotary] Re: project update Hi Paul, I am really envious of your idle speed. Mine is around 1600. Any ideas on how to get it down? Temps are outstanding too! Tommy<>< Idle speed is: engine speed 800 rpm, with a prop speed of around 400 rpm's. (2.17:1 reduction ratio). After 4 taxi runs and aborted takeoff runs, the oil temp got up to 185 degrees. Oil temp was lower, but unfortunately I failed to write it down and forgot. I believe it was around 160 or 165 on the oil temp. Outside air temp was 75 degrees. --- [Pre-scanned for viruses by Internet America.] >> Homepage: http://www.flyrotary.com/ >> Archive: http://lancaironline.net/lists/flyrotary/List.html
