2) Along with fuel pressure, it is a way to check
and make sure the entire fuel system is working. If a pumps starts to fail
via low output or there is a clog in the filter or elsewhere in the system it
will manifest with decreased flow but maybe not in the fuel
pressure.
Interesting use of a
flow sensor. Since the filters are such a pain, and mess
to change, I was thinking of doing a test where I just ran the fuel into a
jug to measure the time to flow 5 gallons. If I do this while the
filters are very low time, I could use that as a way to tell when they need
to be replaced. It's likely they don't need to be replaced very
often. I hadn't decided if I was going to pursue such a test or not
though.
