All this is true. EAA Chapter 49 and 1000 are both very active with lots of
aviation experts in the groups.
However, it's also a god-awful place to live, with temperatures over 100 most
of the summer and high winds almost every day. Thermals make flying
uncorfortable past 11 am in the summer, too.
And the nearest Starbucks is 40 minutes away....
My wife and I live in Palmdale. We went down to Los Angeles last month and
were marveling at how lush and green it is down there compared to the high
desert. Los Angeles!
To each his own. I know many people who love it here, but I can't wait to
leave.
