These turned out to be the ideal recyclable weights for Lancair building. They can be purchased in small and large sizes in robust plastic sacks or decanted in to smaller polythene bags for smaller jobs. They to not weigh quite as much as lead shot but the granules are smaller so they "blend" to curves better. When finished with you can sell them on to water softener users, defrost the pavement/drive outside your house in winter, or use them in the dishwasher/water softener. Salt worked for me and I still keep a few sacks in the hangar when I need to weigh down the tail for gear checks and maintenance.
