Regarding Superfil:
I had similar concerns utilizing Superfil as a filler on certain portions of
the exterior. I emailed Mark at Lancair with my concerns. He replied:
"it is good for any of your surface bodywork. The couple times I've used it
worked well. I would recommend using the Micro for bonding ribs into place
and for radii under lay-ups. Superfil would be fine for filling the
exposed edges of pre-preg also"
I am using Superfil anywhere I can in an attempt to reduce weight. Ask me
again in a few years and I hope I still happy with my decision to use it.
As far as weight reducing measures, there have been postings about Superfil,
carbon cloth Vs/ glass cloth, various nuts, washers, screws, etc. Some very
interesting suggestions. Does anyone else out there have anymore ideas for
reducing weight? This is a issue of concern to most builders I'm sure.
