Rob, you missed my other crucial point, to wit,

We, the early Legacy builders, do not have any documentation beyond Chpt 4
(topics include cutting holes in the rear spar) -- we don't have the
"fuselage kit" which would include the mounting hardware, flap motor, etc.  
All we can do is sand, sand, sand.

BTW, experience is showing that your use of "vague memory" is on the Mark (no
pun intended).
