Since up until now this has only occurred when gear is extended or retracted I have not bothered with it until now. I recently added landing lights and discovered the problem occurs with landing lights on while on approach. I have recently removed the alternator (for another reason too lengthy to explain here) and began investigating (again) this issue. I have an older model L60 (60 amp) ND alternator from Pelican Aviation with an LR3 Regulator from B&C. The label on the alternator indicates that it has a built in regulator. The write up in ACS catalog for the regulator indicates that it will not work with an alternator that has a built in regulator. The alternator has clearly been working to some degree as I have about 80 hours on the plane. However, something is not right because I should not be getting a low voltage alarm under these circumstances. I am considering buying a new B&C alternator. Unfortunately I don't have anymore data and the airplane is now sitting without alternator. If necessary I can put it back on and get some more flight data. Does anyone have any ideas on this problem? Any help is appreciated.
