The difference is about 1.4 grams per (2.2g vs. 0.8g). On a pressurized IV
there are several hundred -3s so you will save a pound or more on just this
item. Try this, gather all the (not yet installed :0 ) elastic stopnuts used
in your kit and weigh them. You can save more than half the total.
Why bother? Well, you can have two comparably equipped IV-Ps sitting on the
ramp and have the empty weight of one 100+ pounds more than the other. They
look identical. Is the 100 pounds sitting in a lump on the floor? No, the
100 pounds is hiding in the nuts and washers, paint, layups, wiring, hoses,
upholstery and filler among other places. My IV-P weighs 2188 Lbs., proof
enough that being a nut about weight pays off ;)
