Rich, You probably know this already but I thought it should be mentioned
that the airspeed that you do the free fall test at makes a lot of
difference in the success rate. In the last 6 years I have probably done
the test about 50 times, summer and winter. I have found that if I slow
down to 100 MPH or less, the nose gear will come down smartly every time.
At higher airspeeds, I am not so fortunate. I have never noticed any
difference in so far as OAT is concerned.
