We were blown away by the capabilities of the SFS 2000 EFIS system.  Albert
and I went along on a demo flight out of Tehachapi on Wednesday in their
C-210 with Nate at the controls.  Gordon Pratt hopes they will have FAA and
TSO certification this summer.  He explained the TSO's were nearly 20 years
old and such awesom capabilities were not on the horizon back then.  He says
we are lucky to be in the experimental category as the system "had to be
dummed down" to meet TSO specs!
To me, the most facinating capability is that one may fly thru rectangular
boxes (300' x 400') on the chosen course to destination, whatever that may
be, ie: nearest airport or across the country, and stay on course to ILS
accuracy.  The CDI needle never moves off center as you easily shoot the gap
through each box and on to the next as they enlarge and "come at you".
Center will never tell you that you are a mile left of the airway
centerline, not with that accuracy!  I believe it is the ultimate video game
come to flying in your own plane, boss. There is too much more to mention
here.
Albert confirmed his SFS instrument panel order with Kirk Hammersmith
shortly after we landed.
