I won't fly within 40 miles of a TS in a glass plane, I guess that means a
strike finder is in order (unless I want to use the ADF and a lotta luck.)
You're not as free to roam in convective areas anymore, but you go faster so it
evens out. Not that I'll miss the nighttime "steer away from the flashes"
technique of getting around embedded storms...
The Glasair with the embedded mesh never sold as an option and I don't know why.
I can assume it was too heavy, too expensive and/or didn't work well. The next
generation was supposed to be carbon fiber; maybe that fixes the issue?
Has anyone been hit when flying an all carbon airframe? Any stories?
