On the Extra 400 it was calculated as almost a wash. Q--Will the TSIOL-550 be capable of running on 93 octane auto fuel with the FADEC retrofit? A--It has not been demonstrated. It has a very high detonation margin to without FADEC. FADEC will not add more margin but will allow you to run closer without risk. The turbocharged FADEC system will have a knock sensor as standard to protect it from detonation.
