Bill,
Q--Why Eric can't we have the tsiol-550 c in the 4-p with the fadec stuff as
well .
A--If there was a market we would build it. It comes down to money again.
How many IV and IV-Ps are out there? Enough to justify TCM spending
$500,000 to $750,000 to redesign and certify the engine? The turbo version
of the FADEC will easily be retrofittible as experimental to the TSIO-550
and the TSIOL-550. We just need someone to do the installation work.
Q--What I saw at Sun-Fun in the TCM booth as far FADEC systems go the two
electronic boxes are too big , where do you expect the components to go, not
on the firewall , each box is the size of a large shoe box and I hope TCM
will consider making the components smaller if you want the lancairs to
purchase it.
A--The Master Power Control(MPC)is what you are referring to. A six
cylinder will use three of these. In each MPC there are two ECUs and four
ignition coils for a total of six ECUs and 12 coils. If it was uncertified
all FADEC would require is one ECU and six coils. This is the price of
redundancy and FAA Type Certification. We have completed STC installation's
on the C-210, Bonanza, Baron, and even the little Diamond Katana. There's
room!
Q--The extra 400 is advertising the tsiol-550c as the engine of choice and I
agree ,when is this available?
A--The TSIOL-550-C is available today. The list cost is $53,000. Extra
will be getting FADEC soon(two years) on the TSIOLF-550-C!
