Bill Harrelson (and all)--

Yes, I'm a new Lancair pilot, but last month I got several hours of stick time with a LOBO instructor in his L-320. I did several takeoffs and nine landings and not once did we experience any divergent directional control on the runway like I experienced in my Lancair 235 yesterday. Sure, I need to work on my landings but other than that I had no problems whatsoever flying the plane. I'm also current in an Arrow II and never experienced anything similar in that complex aircraft which takes off and lands at the same speed as the small Lancairs.

Fifteen years ago I was at the controls for almost six hours in my friend's L-235  - some in actual IMC conditions. We both agreed, "It's a sweet flying airplane." Before I fly my own, though, I'll be be more comfortable getting some additional practice with the LOBO instructor.

Tomorrow I'll be checking the alignment of the MLG and the other things the factory recommended and I'll post any results. I'll keep your advice to stay off the brakes in mind next time I fast-taxi an we'll see how that works.
