I don't agree with this replace it at every annual. If you have a good strut that is going to last for 5 years why replace it with a new one every year that might have some flaw/leak that could fail. New does not mean it is good. You are throwing away a good tested part for one that could be broken. You are also throwing money out the window. Do the gear extension in flight until the airspeed drops to the point where you are no longer happy with the struts performance and then replace it.

Hello Gang, I suggest you change out the nose gas strut every year at your annual condition inspection. It's not worth the worry and they only cost 19.75ea. from Lancair Kit Components. I just ordered a couple of them. Fly Safe!! ... George
