Bill,

I= put the Grove wheels and brakes on my Legacy because I was having problems= with Cleveland calipers hitting the inner gear door.  After installin= g the Grove wheels and brakes I had more stopping power and the inner gear = doors closed all the way.  I'm very happy with my Groves and I th= ink I have over 500 hours on them.

The Beringers a= re more expensive and lighter.  I haven't heard anything good or bad a= bout the Beringers installation.  You will be changing the brake pads = so if they are hard to get, make sure you buy extra ones.  The Grove b= rake pads are readily available.

I don't post here often, so I guess that accounts for th= is late announcement of the first flight of my 11 year project.   This= exciting event took place back in September 2013.  Thanks go to Ernie= Sutter, my more than capable test pilot.  Since then I've had the air= plane to both coasts and am REALLY loving it.  My Legacy is now in pie= ces...in the midst of a paint job.  During the re-assemble I would lik= e to change the brakes.  I'm considering two different manufacturers: =  Grove and Beringer.  I have three objectives:  Inner gear d= oor clearance in the retracted position, braking performance, and style (sh= ow).  I currently have upgraded Grove master cylinders and braided sta= inless lines down to the calipers, and then stock Lancair axles, wheels, br= akes and nose wheel.  Are there any comments or opinions out there rel= ating to retrofitting either of these manufactures parts to our airplanes?  I am the least familiar with the Beringer products and so= would love to know if anyone else has used their wheels and brakes on a Le= gacy and how they fit in the gear wells.  THANKS A MILLION !!!!=
