According to the info I found the Lancair down is a
235, built by David Musick and registered in 1990. Serial #36 so I'd guess
it's an early one. The engine is listed as an O-290 and it was registered
by the current owner in 1998. I live in the general part of Oregon where
the plane's current owner lived and have been involved in all things Lancair for
over 20 years and can't recall ever seeing the plane. I hope the cause for
the tragedy is determined and made public. By the way, the local news
reports here locally reported the plane as a "Lankair" and proceeded to report
how many people have been killed in "Lankairs" over the years. Very sad
what's happened to the "news" over the years. The good news was that
nobody on the ground was injured. To put things in perspective, the town
where the accident occured, McMinnville, is where the Evergreen Aviation Museum
is located, the home of the Spruce Goose.
