It will be happening in the same time frame that you can go to the local new aircraft dealer and fly an Eclipse jet off the lot for $800,000. The reason a Garmin costs $10K, a solid state gyro system $15K, a SFS system a couple of times that and a brand new Continental engine $50K+ is because so few of them are made. As soon as airplanes start being produced in the same volumes as automobiles, you will be able to buy a SFS like system for a few thousand dollars. Since that will not be happening this week, I'd better get back to work to be able to afford the aviation addiction.
