Well, how about two 20 pounders as reference. These two love the airplane. Just taxiing for fuel gets them giddy and I started slowly over time with them, starts, taxiing, takeoff, noises, turbulence all cause issues. Typically, I restrain them with leashes fixed to the rear bulkhead so they can't jump up front unexpectedly. In cruise, one sleeps on the rear luggage, another on the copilot seat or on the floor. I do 11,000 to 13000 with them, never done higher. Turbulence gets one of them looking for the floor and that can be a problem with the stick. They need protection from sunburn too.
Mutt muffs don't work. I tried them myself and they are just plastic caps that amplify noise. You won't likely see any dB rating, you can have mine if you want them. I think you'll have 100 dBa levels up front so protection is wise. I use cotton in the ears, then wrap ears and head with a tensor bandage to hold cotton and ears, followed by a neck tube to keep all in place. This needs to be practiced prior to flight so the mutt gets happy with it. Now, my canines know that setup means we are going flying.
I'd stick with taxiing and another helper in the plane until you get it sorted out. My trips to Calgary are typically 2000nm all day flights. They hop back in at each fuel stop so I know they're happy. One downside is they get familiar with the engine start. If they hear the legacy fire up, they will come running so I'm always watchful for that.
