I think I am the original sourcer of the scoop idea. I found it on a baffle piece for the oil cooler that came with my engine that had originally been intended for an Adam A500. I tried the blister first, with limited success. The scoop was dramatically more effective. #2 is now never my hottest cylinder (#4 now takes those honors).

I saw the little boxes like Ron sent photos of in one other installation. I did not add these in mine, but since my temps are good so far, will not go to the trouble even though the engine is off the airplane right now. Mick Guinn did my engine install. The baffling and silicone work seemed to be very well done and probably explains the good cooling results. The scoop is indeed just that and not a blister as many have done. I don’t know if it’s better or worse, but I copied that from someone and it does seem to produce great results. See photo.
The first two photos are of the upper cowl intake mod. There is also a Word doc attached that tries to show how that was done.
