There is a copy of the Limits file in the MFD. You can verify this by putting the MFD in maintenance mode and checking the settings. Then you can use the maintenance page to transfer the limits file to the SSFDC.
As for the PFD, it sounds like you trashed the autoexec file at vectors the boot between flight and ground modes. In ground mode the system uses a DOS like OS. In flight mode there is no OS, the application does all necessary functions. Is the only thing on the screen a flashing cursor or is there a C: prompt?
If you have an older laptop with a PCMCIA slot you can image the drive in the good display and copy it onto the drive in the twitchy display.
