I've been following the discussion regarding screens for air inlets and
offer the following:
I'm currently driving a Skyhawk, with plans of building an ES. The Skyhawk
has a simple answer to filter out foreign debris. Inside the wing root are
aluminum tubes directing the air to the Cessna can-style vents. Inside a
tube you'll find loosely compacted material similar to a cleaning pad. Your
local grocery store would have this in the cleaning goods aisle, marketed
under the name Chore Boy.
The material provides for good flow and would filter out most debris. Hope
this helps.
