I just weighed my 360 and it came in at 1,225 lbs empty with unuseable fuel on
board.  More weight than I wanted but it has a full panel and all the Lancair
options.  The CG came in at 24.07 inches aft of rear firewall datum for this
configuration.  I also weighed the CG affect of adding myself.  After going
through some "typical" moment arms I found on Marv's site under Rick Argentes'
archive, I found that if I stay under the 1,785 gross, it is difficult to get to
the aft CG limit.  A typical flight with a passenger and full fuel should put me
at 28.5 inches aft of datum.

Question 1:  with this situation, would any of you go to the trouble of moving
the empty CG further forward?   Will the handling qualities at 28.5 be
"excellent"?  I've heard some of you say that handling at the aft cg limit is
not good. I have no practical options to move the cg at this point.  Battery is
behind the pilot seat, hydraulic pump is behind the co-pilot seat.  Header tank
is installed and co-pilot feet space is taken up by the HSI gyro.

Question 2:  I did not measure cg affect due to wing tank fuel.  So far I have
used what others have seen.  Is there a station number out there for wing tank
fuel or is everybody using the scales to determine it?

Question 3:  What is the new forward cg limit for the 2-place?  I can't seem to
find it.

Thanks in advance for your advice,

Ed de Chazal
