I have been monitoring the builder site for a little over a year while
working on 360 carbon fiber fast build kit. The site has been invaluable in
answering many of my unasked questions and even better at informing me of
things that I was too stupid to ask. Now I finally have a question that needs
an answer. My choice for an engine has always been a used IO 360 parallel
valve version which I hope to rebuild. A year of searching the usual places
such as: White, Wentworth, etc.; has resulted in no engine and little hope of
finding one for a reasonable price. While the Lancair price is very
attractive for a new engine, it is still too much. Can the angle valve
version be installed as a substitute? This version is readily available and
is less expensive than the parallel version (on the used market). I called
Lancair and was told that the angle valve version was adaptable and that
there were a number of builders that had made this conversion. They suggested
I post the builders list to ask what would be necessary to change on the
construction process. I would like to talk to some people that have done so I
could lookout for some of the big pitfalls. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
