Rob,
Not knowing any better, I closely followed directions early on during construction, and made extra work for myself. Now with regard to the wings, I would suggest the following: Don't bond the top stub wing skins until after closing out the outer wings. Bare in mind that before you lightly snug up the main spar bolts and before drilling for the rear spar attach points, you will observe some up/down motion at the wing tip due to some small clearance differences at the main spar bolt holes. If your plane is up side down, just let gravity pull the wing tips down toward the floor and tighten the main spar bolts. Drill and secure the aft spar attach point, you may need a bit of pressure one way or the other so that the rear outer spar and stub wing spar are as closely aligned as possible. Then set the wing tip for proper washout and close the wing. When you flip the plane over and reattach the wings, be sure you apply upward pressure to the wing tip before tightening the main spar bolts. Now you can easily position the upper stub wing skin relative to the outer wing and set a nice gap between them. Most likely you'll wind up using some micro as well as superfill to achieve perfection between stub wing and outer wing.
Hope this helps.
