Lancariens,
I own a Rocky Mountain Instruments uEncoder that is installed in my Lancair
360.
On any typical flight I set the baro on the unit and within a minute or so
it starts flashing and I believe the result
is unreliable information being
sent to the transponder. See the attached video [see note below <m>]. Another anomaly
is that
during straight and level flight the VSI segment will indicate a wild
fluctuation showing a greater-than 1000 FPM climb or descent.
Several months ago I took the unit out and performed a few procedures that
were recommended by RMI such as cutting the leads of the
components on the
circuit board flush wth the board in the display, etc. This did not resolve
the problem. I now would
be interested in having someone qualified take the
unit and fix it, maybe at RMI. Then I discover that Rocky Mountain
Instruments
is no longer in business and I am pretty sure they won't/can't
help me.
Is this there anyone in the Lancair world that can point me in a
direction
that we can get this resolved, either by fixing or replacing the unit.
If the microEncoder is not serviceable, can someone
point me in the
direction of a viable, drop-in replacement unit - either another RMI
uEncoder or somthing else?
