Ed-- I change my struts about once every year and a half. The model is SAA 4247. They cost about $20.00. You can get them at most auto stores.

As to the good info on planes in Oz, of course they can’t fly backwards! That’s why they fly mostly Rutans, Piaggios and other planes with the tail in front and engines in the rear, turning the proper direction.
