I wouldn't be nervous. I just wish someone explained to me that this was the future cost built into (what seemed to be) an expensive new engine; a delayed expense prudently detectable with annual inspections, that will be incurred over time.
My plan: The oil venting with open filler seems sensible. A dehumidifier inside the hanger. Perhaps a crankcase dehumidifier or dessicant system. I wonder if I should change oils from Exxon Elite to a pure mineral oil?

LML Gang,
Several of your posts have me nervous about this IV-P that I’m building. Many times, we hear postings about the people having troubles but don’t hear the good stories. I appreciate Michael piping in about his better luck with the TSIO-550.
Any more of you out there getting good life out of your TSIO-550 engines?
Thanks!

I have just over 1100TT on my factory new TSIO 550B- two cylinders hovering at 60 and the rest in the mid 60s. Just put 12 hours on it last week (LOP 16.5 GPH 28 inch by 2370RPM) and burned barely a quart and it runs smoother and smoother year by year. Most flying FL190-230. Hoping to get another couple hundred before topping it.
