I am wondering how you have your speed brake switches wired?

My IVP has a rocker switch (two position) that has "speed brakes" marked on it, however there is nothing connected to it.... instead, there is a separate 3 position switch (up, neutral, down) that operates the speed brakes.  It allows me to put the brakes partially up and down as compared to 100% or down.  I'm wondering how the rest of you have it wired and which is the right way?

Dico,

This is not as simple an answer as you might think…The original Precise Flight speed brakes could be partially extended by using the 3-position switch as you describe above. In 2009-2010, Precise Flight replaced the asymmetry sensors and changed the logic so that the brakes require a positive signal (voltage) to extend…and to remain extended. Removing the power releases the electric clutch and the brakes retract…violently. It is no longer possible to stop brakes with the latest mod when they are partially extended.

I discovered this the hard way because I installed a 3-position switch on my stick for the speed brakes…and used it effectively until I sent them back for upgrade in 2010. When they came back, they would not work “properly” …they would slam down any time the spring-loaded switch was released from the “extend” position. Took several calls to Precise Flight to figure this one out, but when they finally told me about the new logic, I replaced the Momentary On/neutral/On switch with a simple On/On (reversed polarity) switch and the brakes work just fine.
