The first photo shows the location of the right shoulder harness attachment point on the right side of the fuselage behind the copilots seat.. This is the location of the standard Lancair shoulder harness attach-point installed as depicted in the builders manual. The second photo shows the installation of the inertia reel as low as possible and adjacent to the fuel lines. The black square object on top of the inertia reel was just a convenient spot to locate a small DC-DC converter. The 3rd photo shows the termination of the seat belt and the shoulder harness on the flange that is secured by main spar bolt. A combination seatbelt/shoulder harness came standard in my Ford Probe and I thought that it made sense in an aircraft application. In my ground accident at Las Vegas in 2003, it kept me out of the windshield after maxing out the G meter at + 6 and - 4 G's when I hit the ground during liftoff. The shoulder harness is compliments of a 2002 Lexus. The 4th photo is an attempt to show a closeup of the inertial reel and the bolt that secures it thru the lower fuselage. The last photo is an attempt to show another view of both the seatbelt and the shoulder harness together. In practice it is a simple matter to first attach the seatbelt and then pull the shoulder harness around me and down to attach it. I regret that the photos are such poor quality. I have reduced them in size as much as I dare so that Marv might include them in the LML. If you need any further info, please contact me at billhogarty@gmail.com
